One thing I have realized in my few years (Forever Young please!) on planet Earth is that change is inevitable. We must give ourselves the opportunity to change and not hold on to our old selves.
So I discovered Lady Gaga one sunny weekday afternoon watching MTV Base (in the early 2000’s). The Just Dance video came on and that was it, I became her number one fan. In watching some of her interviews, something struck me.
Oprah: Do you prefer being called Lady or Gaga?
Lady Gaga: Gaga
Interviewer: Do you prefer the name, Lady or Gaga?
Lady Gaga: Lady
This change really got me thinking about the fact that as humans we are allowed to evolve. God did not create us to stick to the same old things throughout our lives but through our experiences, growth and relationships we learn, unlearn and relearn certain things to make ourselves better. We sometimes fear change because we feel we will always be labelled by our old selves and this does not allow us to freely embrace change. I won’t lie but I loved her as Gaga (my favourite live performance of all time is the Paparazzi performance at the MTV Awards which is called bizarre) however in growing and experiencing life she found another part of her which is more ‘ladylike’.
Are people still going to remember her for her wild self? Definitely yes!
Are people still not going to take her serious because of her strange attires etc? Definitely yes!
Are people going to embrace her evolved self? Also yes!
Are people going to give her much more credit than she deserved before? Also a big yes!
Please give yourself the chance to be a better person. You were meant to grow and not remain at the same place forever. Get to know God and yourself better
